I remember seeing and doing The Wave for the first time at the second game of the National League playoffs (San Diego vs. Chicago) in 1984. I remember my mom reporting that the fans were doing it the day before (Game 1), and that it was a new thing. I'd been to a lot of Padre games (1, sometimes 2 a week) earlier that year and never saw it. Maybe Game 1 was the first time The Wave happened in San Diego?
