It feels good to give.

(It feels good because it does your soul/spirit/whatever good.)

(When was the last time you surprised someone with a simple gift? Do you remember how you felt when their face lit up?)

I know what you mean. I recently heard about a woman who gave food to a homeless man, only to be met with the lit-up reply "go away, you [n-word]." The next day, she returned with more food for the same man. THAT is something else.

Your thoughts?
